In my opinion, there are three things beauty products should be: fun, girly, and a little bit glam. Whereas some nail polish brands rely on the color or, even worse, number to name their polishes, OPI and Essie both come up with cute and witty names like “Aphrodite’s Pink Nightie,” “Boxer Shorts,” and “Did You ‘ear About Van Gogh?“. Both the OPI and Essie brands also come out with fun collections instead of just a few new colors every once in a while. OPI often bases collections off of celebrities, movies, and exotic locales. Essie does seasonal collections as well as a few fun ones, like the “Poppy-Razzi” collection. I think that the fun names and collections are what set both brands apart from other beauty companies. The polishes become a collector’s item and source of entertainment, rather than just another color in a bottle.
